Today, at Digisfera website, that was the last time updated on October 15, you can read:

We’re excited to share that Digisfera is joining Google. We started Digisfera almost five years ago and have had the opportunity to work in many interesting projects involving 360º photography over the years. We’re excited to join the Street View team at Google to continue building great experiences using 360° photography.

The main focus of the Lisbon based company was on developing software such as virtual tours, games and web applications. They worked for professionals, web marketing agencies, and other companies in the area of 360º photography, developing custom high-quality software. Digisfera was the company responsible for PanoTag and Marzipano, technologies to create 360º digital photography interactive experiences.

After the United States presidential inauguration and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, PanoTag was in the spotlight during the Brazilian World Cup. The opening match between Brazil and Croatia was chosen to create a gigapixel photo that used PanoTag to create an interactive experience. You can find the final result here. The PanoTag servers will be running until October 31st 2016, so existing applications will continue to work until then.

Marzipano is a 360° media viewer for the modern web. Digisfera is planning to open-source the viewer in the coming weeks and hope this will benefit the panoramic photography community.

The company was created 5 years ago when António Cabral, with decades of experience working in photography, decided to connect his knowledge with his son’s, Manuel Cabral, engineering of communication networks master.
