Portugal Ventures has so far evaluated more than 730 projects submitted by more than 2240 entrepreneurs. From these, the Portuguese Venture Capital and Private Equity firm invested in 50 startups with the ambition to become companies of excellence on a global scale.

We recently told you about the investment they made in JOBBOX.io and Bica Studios. Today Portugal Ventures announced they have also recently invested in B-Guest and MyGon.

B-Guest

bguest

Founded: February 2013

Founders: José Vieira Marques, João Paulo Duque Vieira, Bruno Moscão

Based in: Lisbon

The Lisbon based startup and Lisbon Challenge Alumnus is a marketplace that connects hotels and guests. For guests, it’s an application to install on their smartphones / tablets to be used in every hotel, with which they can request any kind of service, anytime, onsite or offsite, without having to wait and in their preferred language. For hotels, it’s a mobile CRM that, according to the usage guests make of the application, collects useful information on their behaviours. This allows hotels to provide a more personalised service to their customers, and to up-sell their outlets.

According to José Vieira Marques, CEO and Founder:

Nowadays, more and more people use their smartphones to control and manage their travel cycle. It’s an inescapable fact that hotels have to adjust to these new types of travellers (Millennials, also known as “Silent Travellers”) and give them solutions so that they can decide whether they want to organise everything using their smartphones on a “self-service” basis or the old-fashioned way, by talking directly with the hotel’s staff. For this reason, B-guest is the ideal solution for guests and hotels.

MyGon

mygon

Founded: April 2012

Founders: Gonçalo Bernardo, Euclides Major, Ricardo Vilares

Based in: Lisbon

MyGon wants to be the most complete local guide, with a website and smartphone app that provides information, photos, reviews, pricing menus and promotions from thousands of restaurants, SPAs, hairdressers and other local services. Currently, MyGon works with more than 2,000 merchants all over Portugal, and has more than 3,000 active promotions.

Ricardo Vilares, CEO and founder of MyGon explains the advantages of their solution for the users and for the merchants:

For users, we are the go-to app before making any purchase at a local store, because they will find information and promotions not available on other websites or mobile apps, while for merchants Mygon provides a very simple way to attract new customers in low peak periods, only paying per client received.

Pre-registration for submissions to the Eleventh Call For Entrepreneurship is now open and submissions start on the April 27th.
